Solar Photovoltaic
Monaghan & Hornal design, supply and install a range of Sun Harvester solar photovoltaic (PV) systems across Scotland using proven, high quality technology supplied by leading international PV companies.
Our PV arrays can be fitted on top of existing pitched roofs, integrated into new roofs, mounted as shading over windows or mounted on bespoke mounting structures on flat roofs.
Our Solar PV Range
Monaghan & Hornal offer a range of different PV solutions as in our experience one system does not suit all. As part of the design process for each individual project, we identify which system is most suitable in terms of performance, application and cost effectiveness.
We are not tied to any one manufacturer and are able to offer our customers the most effective and appropriate technology for their needs.
We keep up-to-date with the ever-expanding range of products and technologies available throughout the world; as one technology supercedes another so our product range changes accordingly. Amongst other things, we make sure that the products we specify are value for money, fully accreditted, meet all relevant safety and building standards, have suitable warranty cover and that the manufacturer is a viable and reliable business.
Solar Photovoltaic (PV) – Investing in your future!
So how does Solar Photovoltaic (PV) make money for you?
Installing Solar Photovoltaic (PV) isn’t just about being green, it can also bring you significant financial rewards.
It’s all down to ‘units of electricity’ and ‘the Feed-in-tariff (FiTs)’.
Each ‘unit of electricity’ or ‘Kilowatt Hour (KwH)’ that you purchase from your electricity provider costs you approximately 13p. However, by installing Photovoltaic (PV) solar panels your electricity company actually pays you (at today’s FiTs levels) 21p for each ‘unit’ you generate (even if you use it!) and an additional 3p (therefore 24p) for every ‘unit’ that you export back to the grid under the Feed-in Tariff (FiTs)
Therefore, the financial benefits are threefold:
1. The money you get paid for generating solar electricity
2. The money you save for the electricity you use and don’t have to buy
3. The money you get paid for exporting (selling) electricity back to the grid
The above financial benefits accumulate to a significant value which means that your Solar Photovoltaic system will usually pay for itself in approximately ten years (the exact length of time depends on the size of your system and how much energy it produces). Now, here is the real benefit. The Feed-in Tariff (FiTs) will pay you for generating and exporting electricity for 25 years, TAX FREE! Therefore, that could equate to approximately 15 years income!
